An unstoppable onslaught of angry, scumbag grind, Receptive When Beaten earmarks Waco Jesus as one of the hottest unsigned acts of its kind. Vicious, fierce and utterly relentless, this Illinois outfit seeks to pound away at their listeners with jackhammer rhythms, voracious guttural growls and top-quality riff slashing.

Tracks like “Respect The Fist…Bitch,” and “Fuck Sobriety” are highly representative of the group’s seriously bad attitude and the music definitely has the gonads to back up the barking. The guys in the group are apparently most interested in three things, booze, sex and wife-beating and not necessarily in that order. “The Putrid Few” bends you right over with a sweet Cannibal Corpse-Napalm Death hybrid.

Lyrics like “I just want to fuck every fucking cunt that fucking moves – everyday alcohol abuse” are highly representative of the bands extremely negative stance toward women, hence the record’s disturbing title. But let’s make one thing clear, nothing here is attributed in any sort of abstract manner. Waco Jesus is 100% in-your-face shit.

With each new round of ever-more intense bands that hit the scene, shock value wears thin until one act manages to breach the barrier and achieve a further level of extremity. To put things plainly, Waco Jesus is assuredly one of these types of bands.

In an era where the metal population has been desensitized at large, get ready to be shocked yet again. Waco Jesus has an excellent grind platter in “Receptive When Beaten,” look to hear a lot more from these deranged blast freaks in the very near future.
